National University Dasmarinas 2024 Immersion

The students were divided into four groups, with each group spending a day at the foundation. Their activities included bracelet making, painting, raking, sweeping the grounds, and storytelling with toddlers and wheelchair-user children. They also assisted in feeding the children. The first two batches had the unique opportunity to watch a concert rehearsal, while the last two groups engaged in volleyball and basketball games with the functional children. Additionally, they played board games with the toddlers and semi-functional children.

This hands-on experience was coordinated by Professor Jay-ar Baybay, who collaborated with the Chosen Children Village Foundation to provide the students with a deeper understanding of the different cases of differently-abled children. By participating in this immersion, the students gained valuable insights and developed a greater sense of empathy and compassion.

The immersion allowed the students to witness firsthand the daily lives and challenges faced by differently-abled children. Engaging in various activities, from creative arts to sports, enabled the students to form meaningful connections with the children and understand their needs and strengths. This experience not only enhanced the students’ academic knowledge but also fostered personal growth and a commitment to making a positive impact in their future careers as psychologists.

Overall, the immersion at Chosen Children Village Foundation was a profound learning opportunity, enriching the students’ educational journey and preparing them to become empathetic and effective professionals in the field of psychology.
